About us

Hartland Gymnastics has been training champions for over 30 years.

GYMS

Hartland Gymnastics is comprised of 3 gyms in one. Our intro gym, class gym, and team gym are all separate. We believe this is the safest way to teach gymnastics.  Each gym has equipment and space appropriate for its age and level.

STAFF

Our staff is highly trained and USAG Safety Certified. Meet our staff here:

Coach Cathy

Cathy Short has coached gymnastics since 1976. She has dedicated her coaching career to the Hartland Gymnastics program.  She has had many accomplishments along the way, but none more gratifying than the gymnasts whom she has instructed. Many of her athletes of the sport of gymnastics have become very successful in both gymnastics and life itself.  Cathy is more than just a gymnastics coach; she requires and teaches to all of her athletes the art of becoming healthy, happy, responsible adults. Her dedication to the sport of gymnastics is highly recognizable through her athletes and peers throughout the gymnastic community.  She is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelors degree in physical education. Cathy is a gymnastics meet director, a Judge with National Rating, holds a Michigan NAWGJ Board position and is the Judges Cup Coordinator.  Along with her passion for gymnastics, she takes pleasure in gardening, shopping and collecting homemade baskets. She has 5 grandsons and 2 grand-daughters.

Coach Janine

Janine Plott brings to Hartland Gymnastics Academy experiences as a Level 10 gymnast, dance instructor, gymnastics coach and NAWGJ Level 5/6 judge.  She has coached gymnastics since 1985. Janine was a level 10 competitive gymnast and began her coaching career 20+ years ago in Maryland. Her knowledge and certification as a teacher of Crochetti Ballet, along with her efforts in the area of choreography have helped bring Hartland Gymnastics to the top of their game.  This can also be seen in her excellent track record for consistently helping gymnasts bring home State Championship Titles. Since coming to Hartland Gymnastics in 2006 she has truly made a positive contribution.  Her positive upbeat attitude radiates and touched each and every gymnast.  She has three children and one grand-daughter. When she is not in the gym she enjoys running and gardening.  She has run several marathons and trail running is her favorite.

Coach Jeff

Coach Jeff Coulter brings an extensive gymnastics background to Hartland Gymnastics. From competing to owning and running a gym, he has done it all.  Jeff Coulter comes to Hartland Gymnastics from Windsor, Ontario, Canada, where he competed in men’s gymnastics for 10 years and was a member of the men’s national team. Jeff has over 20 years of experience in coaching men’s and women’s gymnastics, as well as, tumbling.  His athletes have competed at national and international levels. Some of Jeff’s athletes have gone on to receive scholarships throughout Michigan.  In addition to Jeff’s gymnastics and coaching career, he has toured the United States as a professional disciplined dancer and was offered a working contract with Cirque Du Soliel. He also owned a gymnastics and fitness center for 5 years and an acrobatic company for 8 years, where he directed and produced various types of performances.  Jeff has been married to his wife, Monica, for 16 years. Together they have two children, Samantha (12) and Dillon (9) and reside in Commerce Township.  In his spare time Jeff enjoys working-out, boating, camping, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
